Elul - The King is in The Field

The King is in the Field

Are You Prepared to Meet King Yeshua?

Preparing for His Return – Yeshua, King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

Why the King Goes into the Field

A Jewish Parable

During Elul, The King is in the field; YHVH ELOHIM reveals Himself at a level that can be apprehended by man within the framework of his mundane reality.

Elul to Yom Kippur - 40 Days of Teshuva Devotional.

However, YHVH ELOHIM descends to this level not only to make Himself accessible to man. Rather, to borrow the terms of the analogy, the king meets his people in the field because a field has intrinsic value.

The Field is the World- The KING Yeshua came as a man to redeem man.  His is the King who is in the field.

(Joh 1:1 TLV)  In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

(Joh 1:2 TLV)  He was with God in the beginning.

(Joh 1:3 TLV)  All things were made through Him, and apart from Him nothing was made that has come into being.

(Joh 1:4 TLV)  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

(Joh 1:5 TLV)  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.

(Joh 1:14 TLV)  And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.

A field is a place where grain grows.

(Mat 9:35 TLV)  Now Yeshua was going around all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Good News of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness.

(Mat 9:36 TLV)  When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

(Mat 9:37 TLV)  Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

(Mat 9:38 TLV)  Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest that He may send out workers into His harvest field.

We can appreciate the significance of our parable to the month of Elul. The king’s presence in the field represents the ultimate purpose of creation. Our efforts must be directed towards bringing YHVH ELOHIM into our material world. YHVH ELOHIM’s presence must be found not only in the royal palace, i.e., where spirituality is manifest; rather, even the lowest realms of existence must be transformed into a dwelling place for Him.

(2Co 6:14 TLV)  Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?

(2Co 6:15 TLV)  What harmony does Messiah have with Belial? Or what part does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

(2Co 6:16 TLV)  What agreement does God’s Temple have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God—just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

(2Co 6:17 TLV)  Therefore, come out from among them, and be separate, says Adonai. Touch no unclean thing. Then I will take you in.

(2Co 6:18 TLV)  I will be a father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says Adonai-Tzva’ot.”

His presence is not just with us on Elul, but every day, however during this season of Teshuvah we are made more aware of the Holiness of YHWH ELOHIM, our ABBA, and our Messiah Yeshua and His presence within us.

YHVH ELOHIM’s Smiling Countenance

The parable of the king in the field expresses the importance of our divine service within the framework of the ordinary, but it also underscores the unique relationship between the king and His subjects. In the field, “he receives them all pleasantly and shows a smiling countenance to all.” In the “field,” YHVH ELOHIM allows His subjects to relate to Him as His presence is manifest.

Throughout the year, we emphasize the importance of carrying out our service of YHVH ELOHIM in the field with the intent that this should lead to the revelation of the King’s presence. In Elul, which marks the culmination of this service—and the preparation for the coming year—our efforts are rewarded by the perceptible revelation of the King’s presence.

Expressing Our Love Relationship with YHVH ELOHIM Through Torah Study

(Mat 5:17 TLV)  “Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets! I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill.

(Mat 5:18 TLV)  Amen, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or serif shall ever pass away from the Torah until all things come to pass.

(Mat 5:19 TLV)  Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever keeps and teaches them, this one shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

(Mat 22:36 TLV)  “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Torah?”

(Mat 22:37 TLV)  And He said to him, “‘You shall love Adonai your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

(Mat 22:38 TLV)  This is the first and greatest commandment.

(Mat 22:39 TLV)  And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

(Mat 22:40 TLV)  The entire Torah and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

(Mar 7:5 TLV)  The Pharisees and Torah scholars questioned Yeshua, “Why don’t Your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders? Why do they eat bread with unwashed hands?”

(Mar 7:6 TLV)  And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors Me with their lips but their heart is far from Me.

(Mar 7:7 TLV)  And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

(Mar 7:8 TLV)  Having left behind the commandment of God, you hold on to the tradition of men.

(Mar 7:9 TLV)  He was also telling them, “You set aside the commands of God, in order that you may validate your own tradition.

(Joh 14:15 TLV)  “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

(Joh 14:31 TLV)  But in order that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. “Get up, let’s go from here!”

YHVH ELOHIM’s will is that His presence be revealed “in the field”; i.e., that we recognize our world as His dwelling place. This revelation depends upon the study of His Word the Tanack and the Brit Hadasha/New Testament as the people of the field. Although we may be engaged in mundane activities for most of the day, the fixed times that they set aside for Torah/Bible study and prayer brings us into His presence.  In this manner, knowledge of YHVH ELOHIM is drawn down into every aspect of their lives, even into the day-to-day activities of “the field.”

In the parable, when the king passes through the field, the people pause from their work and approach him. Similarly, during Elul, although the “men of the field” continue their daily activities, because they are aware of the King’s presence, they should also increase their study in His Word The Tanack (Torah, Writings, and The Prophets), and the Brit Hadasha/New Testament.  Therefore, the emphasis during Elul on time in the Word as well as prayer, for they are both associated with the verse, “I am my Beloved’s.” (Yeshua) in fact, our love relationship with YHVH ELOHIM is most completely expressed through the study of His Holy Word.

Nine Commands in Deuteronomy Chapter 4 —Obedience To The King

1.        Hearken (Hebrew: shama‛ (H8085), to hear intelligently; be obedient to; regard; publish and show forth; pay attention) to the statutes and judgments (Deu_4:1).

(Deu 4:1 TLV)  “Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and ordinances that I am teaching you to do, so that you may live and go in and possess the land that Adonai the God of your fathers is giving you.

2.        Do not add to the word which I command you, neither take anything from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord (Deu_4:2).

(Deu 4:2 TLV)  You must not add to the word that I am commanding you or take away from it—in order to keep the mitzvot of Adonai your God that I am commanding you.

3.        Keep and do the statutes and judgments of the Lord, for this is your wisdom and understanding in the sight of all nations (Deu_4:5-6).

(Deu 4:5 TLV)  “See, just as Adonai my God commanded me, I have taught you statutes and ordinances to do in the land that you are about to enter to possess.

(Deu 4:6 TLV)  You must keep and do them, for it is your wisdom and understanding in the eyes of the peoples, who will hear all these statutes and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’

4.        Take heed to yourself, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget what you have seen and your heart depart from them (Deu_4:9).

(Deu 4:9 TLV)  “Only be watchful and watch over your soul closely, so you do not forget the things your eyes have seen and they slip from your heart all the days of your life. You are to make them known to your children and your children’s children.

5.        Teach these things to your sons and coming generations, that they may learn to fear Me all their days (Deu_4:9-10).

(Deu 4:10 TLV)  The day that you stood before Adonai your God in Horeb, Adonai said to me, ‘Gather the people to Me and I will make them hear My words so that they learn to fear Me all the days that they live on the earth, and so that they teach their children.’

6.        Take good heed to yourselves, lest you corrupt yourselves by making graven images, and lest you worship the heavenly bodies like the heathen (Deu_4:15-20).

(Deu 4:15 TLV)  “So be very watchful over your souls since you saw no form on the day that Adonai spoke to you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire,

(Deu 4:16 TLV)  so that you do not act corruptly and make for yourselves a graven image in the likeness of any figure—the form of a male or female,

(Deu 4:17 TLV)  the form of any animal that is on the earth, the form of any winged bird that flies in the sky,

(Deu 4:18 TLV)  the form of anything that creeps on the ground, the form of any fish that is in the water under the earth

(Deu 4:19 TLV)  and so that you do not lift up your eyes toward the heavens and see the sun and the moon and the stars—all the heavenly host—and are drawn away and bow down and worship them. Adonai your God has allotted them to all the peoples under all the heavens.

(Deu 4:20 TLV)  But you, Adonai has taken, and He brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt to be a people for His own inheritance, as you are this day.

7.        Take heed to yourselves lest you forget the covenant of the Lord and make false gods and be consumed by the jealousy of God (Deu_4:23-24).

(Deu 4:23 TLV)  Watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the covenant of Adonai your God, which He cut with you, and make for yourselves a graven image in the form of anything that Adonai your God has forbidden you.

(Deu 4:24 TLV)  For Adonai your God is a consuming fire—a jealous God.

8.        Know this day and consider in your heart that YHVH is God (Deu_4:39).

(Deu 4:39 TLV)  “So you will know today and take to heart that Adonai, He is God, in the heavens above and on the earth below—there is no other.

9.        Keep His statutes and commandments, that it may be well with you and that you may live long lives (Deu_4:40).

(Deu 4:40 TLV)  You must keep His statutes and His mitzvot, which I am commanding you today, so that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and so that you may prolong your days in the land that Adonai your God is giving you for all time.
