Walking in Discernment in A World Full of Deception

Walking in Discernment in a World Full of Deception

(2Ti 3:1 TLV)  But understand this, that in the last days hard times will come—
(2Ti 3:2 TLV)  for people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
(2Ti 3:3 TLV)  hardhearted, unforgiving, backbiting, without self-control, brutal, hating what is good,
(2Ti 3:4 TLV)  treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
(2Ti 3:5 TLV)  holding to an outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people!
(2Ti 3:6 TLV)  For among these are those who slip into households and deceive weak women weighed down with sins, led away by various desires,
(2Ti 3:7 TLV)  always learning yet never able to come to the knowledge of truth.
(2Ti 3:8 TLV)  Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these people oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and worthless concerning the faith.

Warning regarding the condition of society in the Last Days

  2.     Covetous
  3.     Boasters
  4.     Proud

  6.     Disobedient to parents
  7.     Unthankful

  16.    Heady
  17.    High-minded
  18.    Lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God
  19.    Having a form of godliness
  20.    But denying the power thereof
  21.    Creep into houses
  22.    Lead captive “silly women laden with sins and led away with divers lusts — ever learning, yet never able to come to the knowledge of the truth”
  23.    Are like Jannes and Jambres who withstood Moses and resisted the truth
  24. .   Of corrupt minds and reprobate concerning the faith
  25. .   Evil, seducers that shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived
In the days we are living, many people are falling prey to deceptive teaching, false prophets, and spirits of deception.

(1Ti 4:1 TLV)  Now the Ruach clearly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, following deceitful spirits and teachings of demons

(1Ti 4:2 TLV)  through the hypocrisy of false speakers—whose own conscience has been seared.

However, as Born-Again, Redeemed people of The Almighty, YHWH ELOHIM, has not left us defenseless in this spiritual battle that is waging war to deceive the world in preparation for the Anti-Messiah/Anti-Christ to be revealed in the last days.

The word has a lot to say about discernment.  The following verses are from the Tree of Life Version

Psa_119:104  From Your precepts I get discernment, therefore I hate every false way.

Psa_119:125  I am Your servant, give me discernment, so I may understand Your testimonies.

Pro_1:4  to give discernment to the naïve, knowledge and discretion to the youth

Pro_2:2  making your ear attentive to wisdom, inclining your heart to discernment,
Pro_2:3  yes, if you call out for insight, lifting up your voice for discernment,

Pro_2:11  Discretion will watch over you—discernment will guard you—

Pro_3:21  My son, hold on to sound wisdom and discernment, do not let them out of your sight.

Pro_10:23  As doing wickedness is a delight to a fool, so is wisdom to a man of discernment.

Pro_11:12  One who despises his neighbor lacks sense, but one with discernment remains silent.

Pro_15:21  Folly is joy to one who lacks sense, but one with discernment walks straight.

Pro_28:2  When a country is in rebellion, it has many rulers, but a man of discernment and knowledge maintains order.

Isa_29:14  Therefore, behold, once more I will do a marvelous work among this people—a marvel and a wonder—so the wisdom of their wise will perish, and the discernment of their discerning will be concealed.”

Isa_44:19  No one reflects in his heart, with no knowledge or discernment to say, “I burned half of it in the fire and I also baked bread on its coals. I roasted meat and ate—and then I make the rest of it an abomination? Should I bow before a block of wood?”

Isa_56:11  and the dogs are greedy—they never have enough. They are shepherds with no discernment. They have all turned to their own way, each to his own gain, one and all.

Dan_5:14  I have heard about you, how a spirit of the gods is in you and how there has been found in you insight, discernment and extraordinary wisdom.

Oba_1:7  All your allies will force you to the border. The men that are at peace with you will deceive you and overpower you. Those who eat your bread will set a trap under you. (He has no discernment.)

Php_1:9  Now this I pray, that your love might overflow still more and more in knowledge and depth of discernment,

The Hebrew Word for Discernment is BEYN - H995
בִּין
biyn: A verb meaning to discern, to perceive, to observe, to pay attention to, to be intelligent, to be discreet, to understand; in the causative sense, to give understanding, to teach; in the reflexive sense, to consider diligently. People can perceive by means of their senses: eyes (Pro_7:7); ears (Pro_29:19); touch (Psa_58:9 [10]); taste (Job_6:30). But actual discerning is not assured. Those who hear do not always understand (Dan_12:8). In the final analysis, only God gives and conceals understanding (Isa_29:14).

The Greek Word for Discernment - Asisthesis - G144
αἴσθησις
aísthēsis; gen. aisthḗseōs, fem. noun from aisthánomai (G143), to perceive with the external senses. Perception, with the senses as well as the mind. Pass., to become cognizant of, to make oneself observed by someone. Involves knowledge based upon experience. In Php_1:9 contrast epígnōsis (G1922), the insight obtained by penetrating knowledge, going down to the foundation. Aísthēsis, however, is experiential knowledge which is or becomes naturally manifold, and therefore has the addition of pása, the fem. of pás (G3956), all (Php_1:9).
Syn.: krísis (G2920), decision, judgment, evaluation; gnṓmē (G1106), opinion, purpose.

In short, it is the ability to sense when something is not true, but deceptive.  This is a work of the Ruach HaKodesh within us, that warns us when something is not quite right, or "Kosher" according to the Word.  It is knowing, that something is not right, what some would call a "check" in your spirit, or a warning signal within.

There are many deceptions happening in the times we are living in.  Here is a link, regarding the deception of UFOs in the days we are living in.

Demonic deception is increasing, and the only way to fight it is to be strong in the WORD and in your FAITH in MESSIAH YESHUA!

The newest deceptive tactic is AI, which I believe will be used by HaSatan in the end times to deceive people.

The scriptures above clearly show 2 things...
  1. Discernment Comes From The Word of YHWH ELOHIM's Ruach.
  2. Those who do not know The Word or YHWH ELOHIM, have NO discernment and therefore are easily deceived by demonic deception.

The Torah warns us about FALSE PROPHETS as well...

(Deu 13:2 TLV)  “Suppose a prophet or a dreamer of dreams rises up among you and gives you a sign or wonder,
(Deu 13:3 TLV)  and the sign or wonder he spoke to you comes true, while saying, ‘Let’s follow other gods’—that you have not known, and—‘Let’s serve them!’
(Deu 13:4 TLV)  You must not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams—for Adonai your God is testing you, to find out whether you love Adonai your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Rom_16:18  For such people do not serve our Lord the Messiah, but only their own belly. By their smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

1Co_3:18  Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks he is wise in this age, let him become a fool so he may become wise.

Eph_5:6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s judgment comes on the children of disobedience.

Col_2:4  I am telling you this so that no one will deceive you with persuasive-sounding arguments.

2Th_2:3  Let no one deceive you in any way, for the Day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the one destined to be destroyed.

There will be things happening that will shake your faith, if it is NOT GROUNDED in the WORD OF THE ALMIGHTY YHWH ELOHIM and our MESSIAH YESHUA!.

(Mat 24:4 TLV)  Yeshua answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray!
(Mat 24:5 TLV)  For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will lead many astray.
(Mat 24:6 TLV)  You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must happen but it is not yet the end.
(Mat 24:7 TLV)  For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
(Mat 24:8 TLV)  But all these things are only the beginning of birth pains.
(Mat 24:9 TLV)  Then they will hand you over to persecution and will kill you. You will be hated by all the nations because of My name.
(Mat 24:10 TLV)  And then many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one other.
(Mat 24:11 TLV)  Many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
(Mat 24:12 TLV)  Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold.
(Mat 24:13 TLV)  But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
(Mat 24:14 TLV)  This Good News of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

The Word ASTRAY - PLANAO G4105
πλανάω
planáō; contracted planṓ, fut. planḗsō, from plánē (G4106), a wandering. To cause to wander, lead astray, with the acc. In the pass.: to wander, go astray.

(II) Figuratively, to mislead, cause to err.
(A) To deceive, cause to err. Act.: to err, mistake, form a wrong judgment (Mat_24:4-5, Mat_24:11, Mat_24:24; Mar_13:5-6; 1Jn_1:8; 1Jn_3:7; Rev_13:14; Sept.: Pro_12:27). (B) Act., to seduce a people into rebellion (Joh_7:12; Rev_20:8, Rev_20:10); from the truth (2Ti_3:13; 1Jn_2:26 [cf. 1Jn_2:21-22]). Pass., to be seduced, go astray (Jas_5:19; 2Pe_2:15). Part., hoi planṓmenoi, those seduced, gone astray (Tit_3:3; Heb_5:2). Specifically, to seduce to idolatry (Rev_2:20; Rev_12:9; Rev_18:23; Rev_19:20; Rev_20:3; Sept.: 2Ki_21:9; Eze_44:10, Eze_44:15).

The Weapons of Our Warfare...

(Eph 6:10 TLV)  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
(Eph 6:11 TLV)  Put on the full armor of God, so that you are able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
(Eph 6:12 TLV)  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldly forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
(Eph 6:13 TLV)  Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist when the times are evil, and after you have done everything, to stand firm.
(Eph 6:14 TLV)  Stand firm then! Buckle the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness.
(Eph 6:15 TLV)  Strap up your feet in readiness with the Good News of shalom.
(Eph 6:16 TLV)  Above all, take up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
(Eph 6:17 TLV)  And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
(Eph 6:18 TLV)  Pray in the Ruach on every occasion, with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, keep alert with perseverance and supplication for all the kedoshim.

(2Co 10:3 TLV)  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh.
(2Co 10:4 TLV)  For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful through God for the tearing down of strongholds. We are tearing down false arguments
(2Co 10:5 TLV)  and every high-minded thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Messiah—
(2Co 10:6 TLV)  ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.

First of all, the object of our warfare is different; as Eph_6:12-13 puts it, "We are not struggling against human beings, but against the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers governing this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm," what Sha'ul here calls strongholds and every arrogance.

And Secondly, the weapons we use to wage war are not worldly, they are not the weapons of aggressive hot-temperedness Sha'ul's old nature would be tempted to use; rather, they are the "war equipment God provides" (Eph_6:13)-truth, righteousness, the Good News, trust, salvation, the Spirit and the Word of God (Eph_6:14-17). These have God's power for demolishing demonic forces and the schemes which unredeemed human nature dreams up to prevent people from coming to a genuine knowledge of God; with these spiritual weapons we take every thought captive, even the most antagonistic and worldly, and make it obey the Messiah, forcing even anti-God ideas to "work for good" (Rom_8:28).
